Buchu Lamalin Monastery
Buchu Lamalin Monastery

Belonging to Red Sect (the Nyingma Sect), Buchu Lamalin is the biggest and most important Buddhist temple in the Nyingchi area. Surrounded by mountains in three directions and facing the delta at the mouth of the Minyanghe River, the monastery is built on the third flights of relief by the left bank of the lower reaches of the river. The whole temple is made of wood and stone. The flying eaves and painted timber columns in the resplendent and magnificent monastery have shown the perfect fusion of different art styles between Tibetan and Han on construction. Outside of the temple, the tranquil surroundings is shaded by greeneries everywhere and clear brooks flow through all year round. The courtyard of the monastery and the greeneries set off one another. Inside the yards there are crowds of Tibetan dogs. The monastery is square with its wall painted with four colors of white, blue, red and green. The Buddhist hall is more than 20 meters high with an inner diameter of about 10 meters, covered with a pagoda-shaped golden roof. The footprint remains is said to be left by master Padmanatesvara. The exquisite fresco in the monastery is acclaimed as a consummation in east Tibet.
