Located at the upper reaches of Lhasa River and the river valley of Pengbohe seated at Gandanqvguo Town, Linzhou County is 65 kilometers apart from Lhasa , covers an area of 4,517 square kilometers and has a population of about 52,000. Linzhou mean “naturally formed land” in Tibetan. In 1857, Linzhou Dzong had been established an now is subject to Lhasa. Linzhou County enjoys a developed handicraft industry and the Gandanqvguo Town has long history of pottery production. In Linzhou, there are three major highways with a total length of 160 kilometers and twelve country highways with a total length of 260 kilometers. A traffic net connecting Lhasa City and neighboring counties and towns has formed. Reting Monastery lies at the northern part of the county. |
